Job Description:
Shifts: Monday thru Friday - 7am - 4:30pm or 7:30am - 5pm No
weekends and no holidays POSITION SUMMARY: Receives, sorts,
manufactures, compounds, and processes a variety of drug and supply
orders and assists in the maintenance of drug inventories and
records of drug distribution by following established policies and
procedures which affects the overall accuracy, reliability, and
acceptability of Pharmaceutical Services. REPORTS TO: Director of
Pharmacy POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None QUALIFICATIONS: • High school
diploma or GED • Associates degree or equivalent preferred • CPHT
certification or able to obtain certification within 12 months of
hire date • Must be able to satisfactorily complete the Sterile
Product Preparation examination within 90 days of employment and
recertify annually • No drug related misdemeanors or felonies on
criminal record GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job

add, subtract, multiply, and divide. • Ability to generate, read,
interprets, and acts as it relates to basic financial statements,
national and state regulations, operational and maintenance and
organizational policy / procedures. • Ability to write reports and
correspondence. • Ability to effectively present information to
patients, family, employees, physicians, etc.… Essential Job Duties
and Responsibilities: 1. Procures, distributes, and enters patient
information and medication orders per physician request, or
prearranged work assignment according to established policies,
procedures and protocols. • Enters patient information into the
pharmacy database, accurately and in a timely manner. • Fills
physician orders, medication surgical kits, medication carts, or
stock requisitions accurately and in a timely manner • Replenishes
medications in emergency crash carts or floor stock areas
accurately and in a timely manner • Prepares intravenous admixture
or other sterile preparations accurately and in a timely manner. •
Delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary
areas accurately and in a timely manner. 2. Maintains adequate
stock of medications and supplies according to established policies
and procedures • Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and
storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations. •
Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date. • Identifies
and replaces outdated and unusable drugs. • Restocks medication and
IV dispensing areas accurately within specified time periods. •
Repackages bulk medications in unit dose packages accurately per
established procedures. 3. Contributes to the effective operation
of the department. • Enters charges and credits for patient
medications accurately and in a timely manner. • Generates reports,
and completes project work assignments accurately and in a timely
manner • Answers the telephone, identifying self and department.
Directs calls to appropriate personnel. • Answers requests at the
window while providing good customer service and makes deliveries
to patient care areas accurately and in a timely manner. •
Organizes and prioritizes work assignments • Maintains logs,
records, and other required documentation accurately. Files
documentation in appropriate places. • Keeps pharmacy areas clean,
neat, and well organized. Keeps pharmacy equipment clean and
operational. 4. Participates in the quality improvement activities
of the department • Completes and documents all assigned medication
storage area inspections as directed by procedure. Identifies and
replaces outdated and unusable drugs and completes their proper
disposition. • Collects data, conducts quality monitors, and
completes documentation as assigned. 5. Maintains competence
required for current job title/position. • Maintains current
technician certification or in the case of new hire acquires
certification • Attends pharmacy staff meetings • Participates in
orientation, education, and training programs. Reviews literature
and other materials as assigned. Passes all tests and quizzes
given. • Completes all competence/skills assessment requirements.
6. Complies with the state and federal regulatory requirements
related to the performance of JCH&L operations and requirements
of the JCH&L Compliance Program, including but not limited to
the Service Excellence Standards, the Compliance Policy, Safety and
Infection Control, all department and organization-wide policies,
Critical Access Hospital requirements, and Federal and State of
Nebraska regulations. 6. Participates in professional growth and
development requirements and opportunities by attending department
meetings, participation in required and voluntary educational
programs and in-service meetings, including current literature,
workshops, and other developmental opportunities. 7. Performs other
duties as assigned. 8. Performance Improvement & Personal Growth •
Observes for and reports potential or actual process concerns and
actively seeks a resolution to the problem. • Participates in
department meetings and training opportunities to keep informed of
changes affecting patient care and facility operations. • Meets the
minimum annual educational requirements. • Shares knowledge and
expertise by participating in training for co-workers and
orientation of new staff. • Provides positive role model for
co-workers. • Identifies and participates in JCH&L committees,
performance improvement and quality initiatives and other
activities which support the health center and department
operations 9. Performs other duties as assigned EQUIPMENT, TOOLS,
