Pay: $64 per hour Shift Information: Nights Start Date: 3/16/2026 About the Position Registered Nurse - PCU – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - PCU Location: Omaha, NE Start Date: 03-16-2026 End Date: 06-15-2026 Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (days & nights): 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; primarily night-focused coverage available. Schedule includes every other weekend and every third holiday; no on-call/standby required. Roles & Responsibilities Deliver compassionate, evidence-based bedside care to adult and geriatric PCU patients Titrate and manage drips safely (e.g., Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure meds) per unit protocols Perform continuous EEG monitoring oversight and respond to changes in patient status Chart accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain clear, timely patient records Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize care Assess patients, prioritize critical interventions, and apply strong clinical judgment Provide patient and family education for cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes care needs Support unit flow and patient safety while floating to ICU, rehab, or medical floors as needed Qualifications Active RN license in the state of Nebraska (current and in good standing) Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (current upon submission/assignment) Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown or acute care nursing experience Proven experience titrating drips and managing complex cardiac/neuro patients Proficient with EPIC charting and electronic documentation Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to confirm 50-mile radius eligibility) Ability to pass orientation skills exam (open-book) with a required score of 90% Must NOT be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) per radius rules Education Active RN license required BSN not required for submission Knowledge & Skills Strong critical thinking and assessment skills in a fast-paced PCU/Stepdown setting Excellent communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary providers Knowledge of cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes patient management Hands-on experience with titratable drips and set-rate infusions Familiarity with continuous EEG monitoring principles Time management, prioritization, and delegation when supervising patient care techs Benefits A supportive clinical team that values your skills and growth — you won’t be just a number Comprehensive orientation and unit-specific training so you hit the floor confident Licensure assistance and certification support for required credentials Paid time off and scheduling predictability with every other weekend rotation Opportunity to work in a specialty Stepdown/PCU environment with strong mentorship Professional development and continuing education encouragement Collaborative culture with clear communication and teamwork Employee assistance and wellness resources to help you recharge Travel Perks: Explore Omaha, NE Explore Omaha’s highlights on your off days: stroll the charming Old Market district with its cobblestone streets, shops and restaurants; visit the world-renowned Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium; walk or bike the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge and snap a selfie with one foot in Nebraska and one foot in Iowa; relax at Lauritzen Gardens or enjoy local craft breweries and riverfront dining.
