Registered Nurse (RN) | Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care Location: Council Bluffs, IA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,272 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Council Bluffs, Iowa, 51503! Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: License required to submit Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS & TNCC preferred Must-Have: ICU experience with experience in drips and mechanical ventilation Description: RN's must pass a written exam during orientation. This is an open book exam on skills learned during training. Candidates are provided with all necessary resources to pass. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass, or termination will follow. Candidates must be located more than 50 miles from the facility and may not hold any employment with associated facilities. Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas. Failure to comply with the fingernail policy may result in termination. The department operates a 16-bed ICU. The nurse to patient ratio is 2:1. Common diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, and myocardial infarction. Candidates should have preferred 2 years of ICU experience and previous travel experience. Experience in titrating drips is required. Common titratable drips include vasopressors and sedation. A charge nurse is present on each shift and does take patient assignments. Patient care techs are not available in this unit. A hospitalist is in-house 24/7, while intensivists are available during the day and via telemedicine at night. Respiratory therapists are not available 24/7 but shared with the emergency room. RNs will need to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. Centralized telemetry monitoring is used, and RNs must also be able to read and verify their own strips. The shifts run from 1830 to 0700 with a commitment of every third weekend. Self-scheduling is not permitted, and block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Weekend and holiday commitments (e.g., 4th of July) are expected. There is no call or standby requirement. Navy blue scrubs are required for all nurses. Orientation includes two shifts: one for the ICU and one for progressive care. RTO (requested time off) must be submitted upfront, and additional RTO will not be approved after submission. The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts as needed. The patient care setting is acute.
