A leading medical center in Eastern Nebraska seeks experienced RNs for a 13-week contract opportunity on a specialized Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focusing on oncology and trauma patients. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to patients primarily with oncology and trauma diagnoses in a 27-28 bed PCU setting Monitor and titrate medications including chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and insulin drips Utilize advanced hemodynamic monitoring tools such as CVP, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, ICP monitoring, and ventilators Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including PT/OT, case managers, social workers, and dietitians to ensure holistic patient care Adhere to rigorous patient safety and infection control protocols, including the prohibition on artificial nails Participate in orientation and a pass/fail open-book skills exam requiring a 90% score to continue employment Qualifications & Desired Experience Current RN license with at least 1 year of PCU or oncology nursing experience BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; chemotherapy certification preferred Experience with EPIC EMR and Alaris IV pumps advantageous Valid drivers license is required for radius compliance Willingness to float within PCU and Med/Surg units Ability to meet a fast-paced, team-oriented care environment with cultural sensitivity Schedule & Contract Details 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts available (day, evening, and night options) Every other weekend required with flexible self-scheduling 13-week contract duration with strict orientation and return-to-work timelines Benefits & Perks Supportive nursing assistant and charge nurse presence for collaborative patient care Hands-on training in advanced monitoring and specialized equipment Opportunity to work on a unit committed to teamwork, respect, and compassionate care for diverse populations This role is ideal for nurses seeking professional growth in a dynamic PCU environment focusing on oncology and trauma care.
