Job Description:
Remote and Local Applicants Welcome Tigerpaw is on the hunt for
a highly effective Software Engineer I. This Tiger should have a
desire to expand their software toolkit, ideally with experience in
C#.NET, JavaScript, WebServices, Microservices, and Microsoft
Azure. We need a can-do person with a great attitude and aptitude
to join our overly caffeinated team of Tigers. This person will
actively participate in the Agile Scrum team (from the Development
side) and work alongside our QA and Product teams. This person will
directly contribute to the team s creation of shippable increments
of working, quality software that meet the agreed upon Acceptance
Criteria. The Software Engineer will participate in designing and
building new features in our core business automation software
platform. We re ideally looking for a candidate who has 1+ year of
experience in software development (but those with no experience
are welcome to apply), who understands that teamwork creates a
better product, who is just as ready to maintain code as craft new
code, and who has a passion for working with a team of high
performers who support each other. Maybe you re the Tiger we re
looking for? You will participate in software development problem
solving. You will love troubleshooting. You will design, build,
craft, write, and create code that is efficient, reusable,
reliable, and doesn t suck. You are willing to take a user story
and code out the requested feature when necessity demands, but also
able to ask questions to better understand how your development
decisions could better benefit our customers. You will be part of
the agile team and assist in designing and building new
enhancements to our platform to create a better, faster, stronger
product. You believe in getting your hands dirty (metaphorically;
please keep your keyboard clean) and tackling those tough digital
puzzles; you can meet deadlines while helping your coworkers hit
theirs. You re capable of working with people in person, or
remotely (utilizing Microsoft Teams). Most of all, you are excited
at the prospect of joining our passionate and empathetic company
culture and working together to improve productivity, better help
our customers, and have an all-around enjoyable time at work. This
is a job and a company where you are encouraged to let your geek
flag fly. We welcome your energy, enthusiasm, and the things you
are passionate about. In addition to participating from the
Development side of the Scrum Team, writing new code, and working
cross-collaboratively with our Tigers across multiple disciplines
and departments, you also will have the chance to be a member of a
learning-focused company that values transparency and giving all
team members the opportunity to make a difference. Because of our
size (about 60 team members), your voice will be heard, and your
contributions noticed! You'll simultaneously experience the casual,
fast-paced environment of a start-up and the longevity and
stability of our 35+ years in business. You'll also get the unique
experience of working for a technology company run by a former
developer . If the idea of being a part of a great team gets your
blood flowing, in an environment that embraces modern ideas on
leadership, company culture, and team building; if you put people
first then maybe you re the Tiger we re looking for. (There will be
a Roar test.) Summary and Responsibilities Tigerpaw is looking for
a Software Engineer to act as our newest team member. This person
will be responsible for: Designing, building, and maintaining
efficient, reusable, and reliable code (that doesn t suck) Helping
with task definition for user stories Creating and maintaining
custom reports Delivering projects according to timelines and scope
Performing technical analysis of feature requests Providing input
on user interface to improve usability Troubleshooting product
defects Qualifications and core competencies Think you d be a good
fit to join our team of Tigers? Here s what we re looking for: 1+
year of .NET application development experience required including
use of .NET Core Familiarity with GIT (branching and merging) A
keen eye for functionality code reviews. Introductory knowledge of
C# Introductory knowledge of JSON, RESTful Web Services, and
Microservices Familiarity with a modern Web Framework (React,
Angular JS) Exposure to developing Web Apps and Services on Azure
Ability to code, analyze, debug, and deliver clean, validated,
maintainable code Excellent analytical, problem solving, and
debugging skills Willingness to keep up with the latest innovations
in technology Energetic, excited, and forward thinking to
contribute valuable input and ideas toward our business objectives
Able to effectively explain technical information to a
non-technical audience Able to work independently and balance
multiple projects and tasks while also functioning in a team
environment. You play well with others and genuinely want to help
your team succeed. Able to communicate (email, phone, IM, and
in-person) clearly and courteously with both external and internal
parties. Our company and teams run on Microsoft Teams, and you will
be expected to communicate cross-departmentally and add the perfect
gif or meme to conversations. Associates degree preferred
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or
equivalent a plus Bonus! You identify with most or all of the
following: You have a lifelong love of learning and you re not
afraid to try new things and you enjoy when a teammate shows you a
new technique, strategy, shortcut, or random meme. You can laugh at
your mistakes and learn from them. You are obsessive about setting
goals and being accountable to your teammates to achieve your
goals. You understand what it means to be part of a no-ego team and
you like the idea of getting to work with other fun, geeky, driven
and productive professionals, multiple-disciplined thought leaders.
You like the idea of trading in your blouses and blazers for
wearing comic book, video game, or band shirts to work. (And you
dig the idea of having a closet full of Tiger-themed work shirts.)
You like Star Trek or Star Wars. There is no right answer, but you
should probably have an opinion on the matter. You are excited to
help your team and coworkers, but you are also capable of handling
your individual projects and you are always focused on driving
projects to completion and success. You think silos are
incompatible in a modern workplace environment (read: they re
stupid) and you welcome the opportunity to work in a no-silo
environment where you are encouraged to work and play across
department lines, roles, and titles. You want to have fun, but also
get $h!t done. This position offers a competitive compensation
package, flexible work arrangements, and the opportunity to be part
of a forward-thinking company culture. You will be expected to dive
in quickly, and you will have the backing and support of our entire
team. (We may throw you into the deep end of the pool, but we ll
give you metaphorical arm-floaty things. In other words, you ll
have a robust onboarding experience aimed at helping you make
meaningful contributions as quickly as possible.) What are you
waiting for? Let s hear your Tiger roar! (That means apply if you
think this sounds like a cool gig and we promise, it is.) This
exciting full-time position will report to our Software Engineering
Manager. All offers of employment at Tigerpaw are contingent upon
clear results of a thorough background check.
