Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical
Surgical setting. The unit has a total of 42 beds. Patient ratios
will be 1:5-6, with an average of a 1:6 ratio at least once a week.
Common diagnoses include medical, surgical, and orthopedic
patients. A charge nurse will be present on each shift, taking an
assignment as well. There are no titratable drips, except for
Heparin. Respiratory Therapy is available 24 hours on the floor.
Telemetry monitoring is available on the floor, along with a
centralized telemetry station. There are nurse aides or patient
care technicians on the unit with a ratio of 1:10-12. Shifts are
scheduled from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Weekend
and holiday work is on an as-needed basis. There is no call or
standby requirement for this position. Floating to other units may
be required, specifically to PCU or Burn units. Scrub color is navy
blue. The first week involves classroom training followed by 2
shifts on the floor for unit-specific orientation. Requests for
time off must be submitted upfront, with 7 or fewer days allowed
per contract. Additional requests for time off after submission
will not be approved. The cancellation policy allows the hospital
to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting
